Brews + Musician = Brewsician
Dave Clark knows both extremely well. Having been a beer and music scribe for decades, “Brewsician” is the crossroads of Dave’s two passions. A frequent contributor to Brew Your Own Magazine, Dave has also been published in Zymurgy, Beer Connoisseur, Beer Advocate, the Arizona Republic, U.S. Rocker and others.
The former beer scribe for Entertainer Magazine and The Phoenix New Times, Dave has recently released his first book for Arcadia Publishing, entitled “Phoenix Beer: A History Rising To New Peaks.” The book was released November 25, 2019.
A former professional brewer & beer distributor, a Certified Cicerone and one of only two Master-level BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program) judges in all of Arizona, Dave knows beer. He’s taught beer appreciation and beer knowledge classes to many, including the dedicated beer specialists at some of the country’s largest beer retailers. He’s also spoken at high-profile beer events including Cleveland Beer Fest.
But don’t think Dave is a one-trick pony keg. Music is a huge part of Dave’s life, being a performing musician and songwriter. In fact, Dave has released Rock City, his first full-length album in August 2019. Rock City has been receiving steady airplay on stations in Greece, Italy and in other stations around the world. Check it out at www.DaveClarkRocks.com.
As the hard rock scribe for Entertainer Magazine, Dave had the pleasure of interviewing many of heavy metal’s most notable celebrities, including members of Anthrax, Testament, Slayer and Megadeth. Dave’s two worlds collided during an afternoon interview and extended beer sampling session with Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine and Unibroue’s Brewmaster Jerry Vietz upon the release of their collaboration beer “A Tout Le Monde.”
When Dave’s not performing or recording music, or writing another beer or music article, it’s likely he’s enjoying a highly regarded craft beer while sharing his love, passion and knowledge of beer with the person at the next barstool. Prost!
